Two Years In: Reflecting on Growth, Gratitude, and a Brighter Future PARA TODOS
Today marks two years since I stepped into the role of inaugural CEO of the Latino Economic Development Council (LEDC). It’s hard to put into words what this milestone truly means to me — but one word rises above all: gratitude
I’m deeply grateful for the trust and support our Board has extended, not just to me personally, but to the vision we’ve collectively embraced. From day one, LEDC has been about more than just economic development — it's been about creating the conditions where growth, innovation, and shared prosperity can take root and flourish. Through strategic investments in education, workforce development, infrastructure, and more, we're not just building programs — we’re laying the foundation for a brighter future PARA TODOS.
A few short years have passed since LEDC was formed, and without question, much has changed. What started as an ambitious idea has become a force for good in our community. Today, LEDC stands as a beacon of hope and progress in the heart of South Omaha — a neighborhood that has long demonstrated resilience and strength, especially in the face of the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
Our most transformative step forward will come through the Adelante Initiative — a $25 million investment that’s been years in the making. This initiative isn’t just about buildings or business plans. It’s about people. It’s about revitalizing a community that deserves every opportunity to thrive. And it’s about ensuring that South Omaha continues to be a place where dreams are possible — and prosperity is shared.
To our LEDC members, staff, partners, supporters, and the broader comunidad: gracias, mil gracias. Your dedication, energy, and belief in what we’re building together have made this journey meaningful — and impactful.
The work continues. The mission endures. And together, we move adelante.
Cheers to our past, present, and the promising future ahead — nos vemos en Adelante Gala!
Con gratitud, Itzel
