Latino Influence

Leadership at every level

Latinos are an essential part of Nebraska’s economic and cultural fabric. This is especially true in South Omaha, where we make up nearly 36% of the population and more than 60% of the 68107 zip code. This growing influence demands representation that reflects our community’s realities, voices, and aspirations. That is why LEDC is committed to advancing Latino leadership at every level, from neighborhood initiatives to national policy.

We are building a foundation for long-term impact in South Omaha and beyond. While continuing to grow our capacity for data and evaluation, we are already seeing meaningful progress in economic development, cultural engagement, community partnerships, and advocacy.

Local

LEDC plays a critical role in local advocacy, workforce development, and place-based revitalization in South Omaha. We partner with over 60 local organizations to improve neighborhood infrastructure, foster economic sustainability, and expand cultural programming. Tourism events like the Cinco de Mayo festival infuse $7.5 million into our local economy.

Our work with initiatives like We Make Omaha and Rock the Block - South Omaha highlight our commitment to community engagement and connection in Omaha, ensuring that Latino voices are centered in decision making.
